Women Making a Splash as Tech Entrepreneurs

I recently read an article by The Washington Post titled "Up-and-Comers Who Are Breaking Down A Digital Divide".  It discusses how women are "leaving their mark as entrepreneurs, social media enthusiasts and policy experts."  The article highlights five women who are making a splash in Washington:

  1. Shireen Mitchell:  Founder of Digital Sisters, a non-profit that helps women bridge the technology gap, Shireen encourages women to take advantage of social media.
  2. Larissa Fair:  Larissa is president of Social Media Club's Washington chapter, a group with over 900 members who meet monthly to discuss trends in social media.
  3. Alexis Rodich:  Alexis's past includes experience as a professional dancer and labor union worker, though she now consults entrepreneurs on getting their businesses going at LaunchBox Digital.
  4. Kady Chu:  Kady founded a consulting firm, Kadidid, that focuses on helping organizations "integrate social media tools into its management system."  Find Kady on Twitter @kadidid.
  5. Shana Glickfield:  Blogger and entrepreneur, Shana recently held several "workshops for Capitol Hill staffers to help them learn about using social networks, online video, Twitter, and blogs."  Now that's cool!
It's great to hear how women are making a mark in the tech start-up world.  What SF Bay Area women would you like to see featured on the FWL blog?
