Women's Business Luncheon: EXPERIENCE. EDUCATE. EMPOWER.

On January 27, 2011, over 150 guests will gather at the City Club of San Francisco to celebrate women in the working world: both the students at Immaculate Conception Academy, who work five days a month in entry level positions through a corporate work-study program AND the women at the luncheon who have paved the way as professional role models for our students.

WBL student pic resized 600Opposed to the typical high school jobs many of us had when our school day was over, the young women of Immaculate Conception Academy spend five days a week out of the classroom working in corporate entry level positions around the Bay Area. When they are not at work, they are in the classroom gaining a full college prep education.  This work-study program provides students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to offset the cost of tuition as well as gain real world experience, grow in self confidence, and realize the relevance of their education. Our students are gaining the education and the experiences to be successful both in and out of the classroom at an early age.

While ICA and the work study program can help provide the experiences and education for our students, it is the professional role models that help empower our students to think bigger and work harder to attain their dreams. Whether it is a lawyer at Jones Day, supervisor at Academy of Art, head archivist at The Gap or an accountant at KPMG, our students are exposed to wonderful professional role models at 55 corporations and non-profits in the Bay Area.

Tickets are still available for our first annual Women’s Business Lunch: EXPERIENCE. EDUCATE. EMPOWER. and we would love to have friends of Future Women’s Leaders join us in our celebration on January 27th. All proceeds from the luncheon will directly benefit the students of Immaculate Conception Academy. We were all thrilled when we asked First Republic Bank to sponsor the event and they said yes! Other sponsors include San Francisco Business Times, 7x7 San Francisco, Plum District, Bare Escentuals, Sur la Table, TCHO Chocolate, Taft Street Winery and Mighty Leaf Tea Company.
