Laugh at Yourself Often!

Guest Post by Nancy Shields:

Hello my girlfriends – The joy of laughter but better yet the joy of laughing at ourselves; If we didn’t takeourselves so seriously we would laugh more at our own self. Find humor in the things we do and say. Life can be serious enough so why not start with ourselves and laugh more? We laugh at others, but it can be entertaining to laugh at ourselves. Have you ever watched a child giggle at themselves as they dosomething that they find silly? Oh, to be more like a child! We have all heard the statement, “LightenUp” – well, maybe its true – let’ all lighten up! Life is too short to take ourselves so seriously.

Now, there are some things we should be serious about but when we truly look at these things there are far too many things not to be so serious about. We get so caught up in a pattern of being serious adults that we forget what it like is to have fun and enjoy ourselves. We can even start laughing at how serious we truly are. Laugh out loud about life in general. Someone makes us angry because they are having a crisis or a bad day – LAUGH! It’s not your crisis, and don’t make it your crisis. Okay if you don’t want to laugh then chuckle about it. Next time you see someone getting angry about something – traffic jam, long grocery lines. Chuckle, make a joke about it and spread the humor with others. Laughter is truly a medicine – it relieves tension and brings joy to the soul. Let’s laugh more often!

Remember, may the possibilities of today excite us all!
