Twitter Trending for Entrepreneurs
Posted on Sat, Oct 01, 2011 @ 08:15 AM
Social media has allowed us to explore expanding our businesses and forming networking connections in ways we never even conceived were possible. A good example of this is by utilizing Twitter, and more specifically using Twitter hashtags, which have the incredible ability to bring people together that may have never interacted before. Twitter does this by “trending” through its hashtags, which allows people to click on the hashtag and find anyone and everyone also tweeting about the same thing. So which hashtags can you utilize to further your entrepreneurship ventures?
1. #SocEnt
Short for Social Entrepreneurship, this hashtag is heavily used by
entrepreneurs looking to seek input or network with other entrepreneurs.
You can also utilize #SocEntChat, which is a monthly chat forum that occurs
on the first Wednesday of each month from 4-6pm EST.
2. #NPTech
This is the hashtag that follows non-profit technology and is used to promote
non-profit technology and non-profit technology news, as well as other
social media and enterprise ventures.
3. #SocialGood
The Social Good hashtag came about because of the Summer of Social Good
and Mashable venture. They were promoting creating a better world through
enterprise and nonprofit projects. You can frequently find it trending for
philanthropy and global endeavors.
4. #smNPchat
This chat forum stands for Small Nonprofit Chat, which is a chat forum
that “meets” every other Friday from 12-1pm EST. The #smNPchat is
defined on Pamela’s Grantwriting Blog as being, “designed especially for
you, the smaller nonprofit organization looking to create maximum impact
in your marketing and fundraising efforts – in minimum time”.
5. #NPCons
Short for Nonprofit Consultants, this hashtag will connect you with people
looking for nonprofit consultants for things ranging from personal use to
speaking at different events.
While each social media site has their own perks, hashtags and trending are two of Twitter’s biggest assets. They connect people in ways that aren’t done on any other forum, and encourage people to get involved with one another. So if you’ve been holding off the Twitter bandwagon, now is a great time to hop on and give it a try. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with how many you are able to connect to that share similar interests, value, and even questions as you.
